Accreditation
By asking for accreditation an organization agrees to be measured against a set of standards. An accredited organization complies with these standards and makes a continuous effort to improve the standard of the services it provides.

With the increasing competition between laboratories and hospitals worldwide for patients, it has become very important to have a high accreditation score. Patients and governments are likely to select the laboratories and hospitals with the highest score.

GIOME has set up a detailed set of accreditation standards for experimental and clinical laboratories and offers accreditation of your laboratory. GIOME's accreditation is based on information provided by the laboratory staff and from visits to the laboratory.

Reasons for seeking accreditation may be to:
  • Increase the number of clinical tests
  • Enhance community confidence
  • Obtain an objective evaluation of the performance
  • Stimulate the quality improvement efforts
  • Favourably influence liability insurance premiums
  • Aid recruitment of professional staff
GIOME has set up a detailed set of accreditation standards for experimental and clinical laboratories and offers accreditation of your laboratory. GIOME's accreditation is based on information provided by the laboratory staff and from site visits to the laboratory. The accreditation program is conducted by GIOME's Council of Accreditation. This council is comprised of highly accomplished specialists in gastroenterology, research scientists and other professionals who conduct the evaluation that determine which laboratories are awarded GIOME accreditation. Besides the council GIOME uses ad hoc consultants who also make site visits and make recommendations to the council. The accreditation will result in a set of recommendations and an accreditation score.

GIOME evaluates all aspects of a laboratory including facilities, availability of equipment, procedures and methods, safety procedures, effectiveness, patient security and veterinary care (if applicable), education, novelty in research, etc..
